HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2257 RESOLUTION No. 2257 A HESCLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, OaDERING9 CALLING, PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING 1tiOTICE OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ON THE 11TH DAY OF JANUARY9 1966, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE WALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY, A NEW CITY CHARTER FOR SAID CITY. 141HYHEAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach on March 1st, 1965 reactivated a committee to amend, revise, or prepare a new city charter for the City of Hunt- ington Beach; and 7 WHEREAS, said committee (officially known as the Hunt- ington Beach Citizens' Charter Revision Committee) did prepare a revised charter for said city; did hold public hearings thereon; and did on October 18th, 1965 present that revised charter to the City Council of said city for their consider- ation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach did hold a public hearing thereon, and after said hearing, incorporated such changes as they felt were necessary for a complete charter for said city. NOW, THE-iEFORE, the City Council of the City of Hunt- ington Beach, California, does hereby resolve, determine, direct and order as follows : Section 1. That a special election be held, and the same 1. Iles. No. 2257 is hereby called to be held, in the City of Huntington Beach, California, on the llth day of January, 19669 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said city, said proposition to adopt the revised Huntington Beach City Charter, as hereinafter more particularly set forth. Section 2, That the polls for said election shall be open at 7:00 o'clock A.M. on the day of said. election and shall remain open continuously from said time until 7:00 o'clock P.M. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of Elections Code of the State of California. Section 3. That on the ballots to be used at said special election, in addition to any other matters required by law, there shall be printed substantially the following: MARK CROSSES (+) Oiu BALLOT ONLY WITH RUBBER STAMP NE-'V-6R ,.ITH PEN CK PENCIL. (ABSENTEE BAi LOTS MAY BE MARKED WITH PEN AND INK H�7C IL. f _ INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS To vote on any measure, stamp a cross (+) in the voting squere after the word "Y:I-S" or after the word "NO". All marks, except the cross (+) are forbidden. All distinguishing marks or erasures are forbidden and make the ballot void. If you wrongly stamp, tear or deface this ballot, return it to the inspector of election and obtain another. On absent voter's ballots mark across (+) with pen or pencil. 2. Res. No. 2257 . Shall the proposed Charter for the s : . City of Huntington reach which was : YES : caused to be framed by the City : Council of the City of Huntington : Beach during 1965 be ratified and NO : adopted?" : 3 . Res. No. 2257 Section 4. A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the proposition. A Cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner here- inbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the proposition. Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter, and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia thet may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. Section 6, That in all particulars not recited in this resol- ution or subsequent resolution pertaining to said election, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal special elections. Section 7. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give said notice of said election and of the prop- osition to be voted on in the manner and within the time pro- vided by law.
