A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HU14TINGTON BEACH EXPRESSING
THE APPRECIATION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH TO THE CITIZENS URBAN LAND INSTITUTE
COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach appointed a Citizens Urban Land Institute Liaison
Committee on May 17, 1965; and
WHEREAS, this Committee was composed of the following
persons; Councilman Jake R. Stewart, Chairman, Dr. Henry
Kaufman, Vice Chairman, Doyle Miller, City Administrator,
James R. Wheeler, Director of Public Works, Kenneth Reynolds,
Planning Director, Norman Worthy, Director of Parks and
Recreation, William Gallienne (deceased) ;: Secretary-Manager
of the Chamber of Commerceg Jack Higley, Manager United
California Bank, Paul Phillips, Manager Security First
National Bank, Wilfred Schryert Chairman Huntington Beach
Safety Council, Ralph Kiser, District Manager Southern
California Edison Company, John Knapp, HOME Council Rep-
resentative, Ben Deane, Developer, Deane Bros. , Gerald Lancet
Realtor; and
. WHEREAS, Betty J. Oswald was named Secretary to
the Committee; and
WHEREAS, the responsibilities of the Committee were
( 1 ) to maintain contact between the Urban Land Institute
and the City Council, (2) develop the information and

materials to complete the study, and (3) inform the City
Council and the Urban Land Institute of the Committee' s
progress; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Committee gave freely
of their time without compensation and met almost weekly
from May 17, 1965 through November, 1965; and
WHEREAS, the Committee was responsible for the
collection and preparation of the data used by the Urban
land Institute Panel; and
WHEREAS, the Committee did in fact prepare the data
used by the panel and participated in its sessions; -
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach, California, expresses
its deep appreciation to all the Committee members
including its Secretary, Betty J. Oswald, for their con-
scientious and dedicated work.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach, California, this 6thday Of December 9
1965.
