HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2295 RESOLUTION No. 2295 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, STATING THE RESULT OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL MUNI- CIPAL ELECTION HELD JANUARY 119 19669 AS CERTIFIED TO THEM BY THE CITY CLERK. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, by Resolution No. 2257, duly called and provided for the holding of a Special Municipal Election In said City on January llth, 1966, for the purpose of sub- mitting to the qualified voters of said City the proposition set forth in said resolution and hereinafter stated; and WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regu- larly given in time, form and manner as provided by law,and said election was on said date duly held at the polling places designated in Resolution No. 2271, passed and adopted by the City Council on December 6th, 1965, and the votes cast thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof made at the time and in the manner and form provided by law; and WHEREAS, said City Council has duly assembled at its usual place of meeting to receive the certification of the returns of said election as determined by the City Clerk conducting said canvass for the City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE,DETERMINE AND ORDER, as follows: 1. Res. No. 2295 Section 1. That the Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City, said proposition to adopt the revised Huntington Beach City Charter was duly held on January 119 1966, and the votes cast at said election were duly and regularly canvassed and the returns thereof made at the time and in the form and manner required by law. Section 2. That the proposition to adopt the revis- ed Huntington Beach City Charter voted upon at said elect- ion is as follows, to-wits "Shall the proposed Charter for the City of Huntington Beach which was caused to be framed by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach during 1965, be ratified and adopted?" Section 3. That the absent voter ballots have been duly canvassed and counted as required by law, and the re- sult of such count is hereinafter stated. That the City Council has received the returns of said election, as can- vassed by the City Clem at their direction and on their behalf, and this City Council finds, that the total number of votes cast in each of the respective election precincts established for said election upon said proposition, and the number of votes therein for and against said proposition, the total number of absentee votes cast in each of the re. 2. Jones, the duly elected, qualified and acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and Ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said city, do hereby certify that, in accordance with direction from said City Council set forth in Resolution No. 2293, did conduct the canvass of the returns of the Special Municipal Election held in said City on January 11, 1966, submitting to the qualified voters of said city the proposition set forth in Resolution No. 2257, and stated as follows; "Shall the proposed Charter for the City of Hunting- ton Beach which was caused to be framed by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach during 1965 be ratified and adopted?"
