HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2667 RESOLUTION N0.2667 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH PROVIDING FOR A METHOD WHEREBY EMPLOYEES UPON THEIR 65TH BIRTHDAY MAY BEQUEST AND BE GRANTED RELIEF FROM THE MANDATORY RETIREMENT AGE OF 65 YEARS. WHEREAS, the City Council of Huntington Beach desires to allow certain qualified persons to continue employment with the city after they have reached the mandatory retirement age of 65 years, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: That all employees and officers and parttime em- ployees of the City of Huntington Beach are required to retire from service with this City upon reaching their sixty-fifth (65th) birthday unless the following procedure is complied with. The City Administrator shall approve or disapprove a request for continued employment after age 65 after completion of the following actions: 1. An employee desiring continued employment af- ter the age of 65 yrs. shall submit a written request to his department head at least 120 days prior to his 65th birthday. 2. The department head shall submit his written recommendation to the City Administrator with the reasons for his recommendation. 3. The employee shall submit to a physical exam- ination as requested by the City, the type of 1. examination or examinations, tests and other medical information and the persons administer- ing the examinations shall be decided upon by the City and the expense thereof shall be borne by the employee. 4. In approving or disapproving requests for con- tinued employment consideration shall be given to the employment field, the particular skill or skills involved, the nature of the position and the availability of personnel to fill the position. 5• The City Administrator shall review all the data and inform the employee of his ruling at least 90 days prior to the employees 65th birthday.
