HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2699 TABLED - 3/4/68 RESOLUTION No. 2699 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING STATE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS TO APPROVE PROHIBITION OF 'ARKING ON A PORTIO14 OF PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY AND RE- QUESTING APPROVAL OF LANDSCAPING OF SAID HIGHWAY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT. WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach is desirous of encouraging beautification of that portion of the Pacific Coast Highway located within the City of Huntington Beach; and. The City of Huntington Beach has a peculiar problem in beautification because of the existence of numerous oil wells and storage tanks abutting said pacific Coast Highway; and The City of Huntington Beach is desirous that beautifi- cation of said Pacific Coast Highway be permitted to the fullest extent, that the entire area behind the curb be landscaped, NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Huntington Beach does here- by resolve as follows : 1. The State of California Division of Highways is hereby requested to permit the beautification of that portion of the Pacific Coast Highway located between Goldenwest Street (23rd Street) and 11 miles north thereof to the fullest extent and that encroachment permit No. 768-E-'768449 be amended to permit landscaping of the entire area behind the curb about 6 feet, in order that such highway be beautified to the fullest extent. 2. That the State of California Division of Highways and Department of Public Works is hereby requested to approve the prohibition of all parking on the inland side of that portion 1. Res.No. of the Pacific Coast Highway described above. 3. That a copy of this resolution be sent to the Board of Supervisors and to the State legislators in order that they be aware of the city's desire to encourage beautifi- cation of Pacific Coast Highway located in the City of Hunting- ton Beach and encourage the Division of Highways to grant our requests to prohibit parking and allow beautification of the highway to the fullest extent.
