HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2701 RESOLUTION No. 2701 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO PREEMPTION AND URGING THE PASSAGE OF STATE LEGISLATION PROVID- ING FOR THE RIGHT OF CITIES AND COUNTIES TO REGULATE TOPLESS WAITRESSES AND URGING THE LEGISLATURE TO AUTHORIZE CITIES AND COUNTIES TO PROHIBIT TOPLESS ENTERTAINERS. The City council of the City Of Huntington BeachgCalif- orn18, does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 114 has been introduced into the Assembly by Assemblymen Biddle relating to the legal ques- tion of preemption and declaring that the State does not Intend to occupy the field of the regulation of topless waitresses; and WHEREAS, this city concurs In this Bill in its present form with a suggested amendment that the legislation Include the rights of cities and counties to prohibit topless entertainment es well as topless waitresses; NOWt THEREF&E, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City Of Huntington Beach, California urges the passage of Assembly Bill No, 114 with an added feature authorizing cities and counties to prohibit topless entertainment, and topless wait- resses as well as the regulation of the same. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be mailed forthwith to Assemblymen Biddle for his records in sup- port of this legislation, 1.
