HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2760 I RESOLUTION NO. 2760 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING ITS POLICY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BEACH AREA BETWEEN BEACH BOULEVARD NORTH TO THE BLUFFS IN THE CITY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach desires to establish a framework for the development of the areas from Beach Boulevard to the bluffs in order that decisions relating to proposed development of said area, both by public agencies and private developers, will be consistent; and The City Council desires to encourage development of an en- vironment in said beach area most conducive to maximum economic return and recreational enjoyment, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach as follows : I. That the City Council does hereby affirm its desire that current projects for development of the area set out hereinabove be completed. Such projects are as follows : (a) Development of the city' s one-mile beach for rec- reational purposes; (b) Improvement of the pier, and development and ex- pansion of the uses of the pier; (c) Provision of median and border landscaping for Pacific Coast Highway; (d) Construction of the Huntington Pacifie,'Apax-,tmOn�s; 1. (e) Development of Huntington State Beach for more extensive recreational use. and (f) Construction and development of Huntington Beach Company' s golf course and the proposed Sea, Cliff development. II. That the City Council does resolve and declare that the following projects are interrelated and are important to the development of the community and should be initiated im- mediately: (a) Establishing the location and design for the Pacific Coast Freeway interchanges and encouraging immediate con- struction of such freeway; (b) Promoting industrial development near the free- way interchanges of the Huntington Beach Freeway and the Pacific i Coast Freeway; (c) Development of plans for a, civic center and con- vention center; and (d) Development of that area of the beach northwest of the pier. III. It is further resolved that upon attainment of Items I and II of this resolution, comprehensive land use patterns for the city will include the following: (V) Hotel, recreation and commerce (W) Office, community and commercial (X) Residential (one to three story) (Y) Medium high-rise residential (three to six story) (Z) High-rise residential (six story and above) 2. The City Council does hereby pledge itself to work and act as necessary to attain the goals hereinabove set forth.
