HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2769 RESOLUTION NO. 2769 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING SUPPORT OF ASSEMBLY BILLS 1474 and 16o4 EXEMPTING NONPROFIT COR- PORATION-FINANCED PUBLIC FACILITIES FROM TAX- ATION WHEREAS, nonprofit corporation financing on the lease- purchase plan has made possible the construction of many out- standing public facilities in California; and An attempt is now being made to assess such nonprofit cor- porations, and the burden of such taxation would fall directly upon the city under the terms of the lease-purchase agreements ; and This Council believes such assessment is an unjustified and crippling deterrent to the development and construction of necessary public facilities throughout the state; and Assembly Bills 1474 and 1604 would provide protection and exemption from taxation of public facilities by declaring such nonprofit corporations to be charitable agencies , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that every effort should be made to secure the adoption of said Assembly Bills 1474 and 1604 by the State Legislature; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this reso- lution are hereby directed to be transmitted to the legislators from this area and the sponsors of the assembly bills . 1.= PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of June, 1968 . • Mayor ATTEST: C2lr.-� - City Jerk ` APPROVED,.A;S- TO FORM: Assistant City Attorney 2 .
