HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2789 RESOLUTION NO . 2789 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING ITS SUPPORT FOR PROVISION OF BUS SERVICE TO ORANGE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH WHEREAS, Orange County, the City of Huntington Beach and other coastal cities in Southern California have increased in population in the last six years and have become increasingly im- portant as business and entertainment centers in Southern California; and Public transportation to and from said Orange County, the City of Huntington Beach and other coastal cities to other major population, business and entertainment centers in surrounding areas is not provided; and There is a great need in said Orange County and vicinity for public transportation to and from said other surrounding areas in the state; and Applications for providing bus service connecting said Orange County, the City of Huntington Beach and other coastal cities with other population, business and entertainment centers in the sur- rounding areas of Orange County are filed with the California Public Utilities Commission, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve that it supports applications for the provision of bus service to connect Orange County, the City of Huntington Beach and other coastal cities with other major cities in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas , and does hereby rec- ommend that the Public Utilities Commission authorize the pro- vision of such bus service .
