HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2907 RESOLUTION NO . 2907 A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION, AND PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, DECLARING THAT PUBLIC NEED AND NECESSITY REQUIRE THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000,000 FOR THE ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT OF PARK AND RECRE- ATIONAL FACILITIES WITHIN SAID CITY WHEREAS, the population of the City of Huntington Beach has increased. from 11,000 to 104,000 in eight years and. said. City is unable to supply funds from general tax revenues . sufficient for the acquisition and. construction of park and. recreational facilities which would. be adequate for such a large number of people, and. Open space, park and. recreational areas and. facilities must be acquired., preserved. and, improved. for the use of the citizens of the City of Huntington Beach. To provid.e immedi- ately need.ed. facilities will cost approximately $6,000,000, and. Members of the City Council, Recreation and. Parks Com- mission and. the Planning Commission believe individually and. as a group that it is in the best interests of the public welfare, health and. safety that land. for neighborhood, and. community parks be acquired. and. d.eveloped. for the use of citizens, both adult and. children, of the City of Huntington Beach, and. Funds for the purpose of acquiring and. d.eveloping such 1. park and. recreational facilities may be obtained, from the issuance of general obligation bonds for said. City; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council, the Recreation and. Parks Commission and. the Planning Commission, jointly and. severally d.o hereby determine and, resolve as follows: It is in the best interests of the public welfare, health and. safety that facilities for neighborhood. and. community arks g Y p be acquired. and, developed. for the use of the citizens of the City of Huntington Beach and that to acquire the necessary funds to provide such facilities immediately, the City Council should. submit to the electors at the June 3, 1969 election a proposition for the issuance of 6 000,000 in general obligation � g g bond.s for the purpose of acquiring and constructing said park and, recreational facilities . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we jointly and. severally shall d.o all that is necessary and. proper to secure the passage of the proposition for said. bond. issue, and, d.o hereby call upon each and, every citizen of the City of Huntington Beach to work toward, the passage of said proposition and. vote for said. prop- osition at the June 3, 1969 municipal election.
