A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING THE ENACTMENT BY CONGRESS
OF S3093, THE CALIFORNIA MARINE SANCTUARY ACT OF
1969
WHEREAS, marine sanctuaries have been set aside by the
State of California in tidal and submerged lands within its
jurisdiction in which the production of oil, gas and other
minerals is prevented, and in which the exploitation for oil,
gas and other minerals is controlled; and
These marine sanctuaries and contiguous coastal lands
are in serious jeopardy of pollution of calamitous proportions
if leases were granted for oil, gas or other minerals in federal
sugmerged lands oceanward of existing state sanctuaries ; and
Proposed Senate Bill No. 3093 under consideration by
Congress would facilitate the control of dangerous pollution
without the expense of terminating existing leases in federal
lands;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach does hereby urge the enactment ,
by the Congress and the President of the United States of
S3093, the California Marine Sanctuary Act of 1969, co-authored
by Senators Cranston, Murphy, Muskie and Nelson; and further,
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Huntington Beach be directed to transmit copies of this reso-
lution to the President of the United States , the co-authors
of S3093, Chairmen of the committees which will hear S3093 and
other cities, counties , state and federal agencies as are
appropriate .

Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the
19thday of January 1970 .

of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing
resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of
more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 19th
day of January 10 70 by the following vote:
