HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3135 RESOLUTION NO. 3135 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE MASTER PLAN OF ARTERIAL STREETS AND HIGHWAYS TO INCLUDE MASTER PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 70-2 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach on April 21, 1958 duly adopted an official Master Plan of Arterial Streets and Highways , pursuant to the Conservation and Planning Law of the State of California; and Pursuant to said Conservation and Planning Law, the Planning Commission on January 20, 1970 , after notice duly given, held public hearing relative to Master Plan Amendment No . 70-2 to the Master Plan of Arterial Streets and Highways to include the up- grading of Atlanta Avenue, between Lake Street and Beach Boule- vard, from a primary to a major highway; the upgrading of Orange and Olive Avenues , between Lake and Golden West Streets , from secondary highways and local streets to primary highway couplets (one-way streets ) ; the upgrading of Huntington Street , between Pacific Coast Highway and Atlanta Avenue , from a local street to a secondary highway; the upgrading of Fifth Street from a local street to a secondary highway; the establishment of a secondary highway immediately adjacent to the west side of the Pacific Coast Freeway between Pacific Coast Highway and Atlanta Avenue ; and the reclassification of Main Street from a secondary highway to a local street between _.pacific Coast Highway and Palm Avenue ; and After notice duly given pursuant to law, hearing was held before this Council on the proposed adoption of said amendment to said master plan, and the matter having been considered, the Council finds that the upgrading of Atlanta Avenue , between Lake Street and Beach Boulevard, from a primary to a major highway ; the upgrading of Orange and Olive Avenues , between Lake and Golden West Streets , from secondary highways and local streets to primary highway 1 . couplets (one-way streets) ; the upgrading of Huntington Street , between Pacific Coast Highway and Atlanta Avenue, from a local street to a secondary highway; the upgrading of Fifth Street from a local street to a secondary highway; the establishment of a secondary highway immediately adjacent to the west side of the Pacific Coast Freeway between Pacific Coast Highway and Atlanta Avenue ; and the reclassification of Main Street from a secondary highway to a local street between Pacific Coast Highway and Palm Avenue is reasonably necessary to the orderly and efficient flow of traffic , for the preservation of the health and safety of the inhabitants of the city, and for the orderly development of the community. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve as follows : That Master Plan Amendment No . 70-2, as set out in this resolution and as shown on the map, designated Exhibit "A" hereto attached and made a part hereof by reference, is hereby included and adopted as a part of the Master Plan of Arterial Streets and Highways of the City of Huntington Beach, California .
