HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3159 RESOLUTION NO. 3159 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING FEDERAL AND STATE REPRESENTATIVES TO INITIATE AND ENACT LEGISLATION PROHIBITING THE DISCHARGE OF SEWAGE FROM SHIPS, BOATS, OR OTHER VESSELS INTO THE WATERS OF ANY BAY, HARBOR, OR NAVIGABLE STREAM, AND MAKING THE VIOLATION THEREOF PUNISHABLE BY LAW. WHEREAS, pollution of all forms has become an increasing threat and danger to our country ' s survival, and The pollution of our country ' s bays, harbors and navigable streams by the discharge therein of sewage and other wastes from ships , boats or other vessels is of particular concern to all, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Hunting- ton Beach, in the interests of all our country ' s inhabitants , urges that our federal and state representatives immediately initiate and enact legislation prohibiting the discharge of sewage and other wastes from all ships , boats and other vessels into the waters of any bay, harbor or navigable stream in the country, and making a violation thereof punishable by law; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to Congressmen Charles E. Wiggins , Craig Hosmer and Richard T. Hanna, State Senators James E . Whetmore and John G . Schmitz, State Assemblymen Robert E . Badham, John V. Briggs , Kenneth Cory and Robert H. Burke , and Orange County Supervisors Alton E . Allen and David L. Baker . PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Hunt- ington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2Oth day of April, 1970 .
