A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL
NO. 568 RELATING TO THE CALLING OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO DISSOLVE THE HARBOR DISTRICT OR,
IN THE ALTERNATIVE, TO EXPAND SUCH DISTRICT
TO AUTHORIZE IT TO EXERCISE JURISDICTION OVER
PARKS AND RECREATIONAL AREAS WITHIN THE DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Orange County and the
Local Agency Formation Commission of Orange County has refused
to call an election concerning the dissolution of Orange County
Harbor District and has refused to call an election concerning
the expansion of the Harbor District to exercise jurisdiction
over parks and recreational areas within the district; and
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach believes
that it is in the best interests of the city and of the resi-
dents of Orange County and the Orange County Harbor District
that such matters be placed on the ballot and that the voters
and taxpayers be permitted to cast their vote on said issue; and
Assemblymen Briggs , Burke and Cory have introduced As-
sembly Bill No . 568 to require the Board of Supervisors of
Orange County to call a special election to be conducted
November 3, 1970 to place such issues on the ballot, and the
City Council desires to support said assembly bill,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach does hereby resolve as follows :
It is in the best interests of the voters and residents
of the Orange County Harbor District that they be permitted to
cast their vote on the issue of whether the Orange County
District should be dissolved and whether the Harbor District, if
not dissolved, should be expanded to exercise its jurisdiction
over parks and recreational areas within the district .

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Huntington Beach
supports Assembly Bill No . 568 introduced by Assemblymen Briggs,
Burke and Cory .
The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of
this resolution to the appropriate agencies and representatives
in the state Legislature .
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th
day of May, 1970 .

more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th
