HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3219 RESOLUTION NO. 3219 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO EXPEDITE THE DEVELOPMENT OF REGION- AL MOTOR PARKS, ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS IF NEED BE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach adopted an emergency ordinance in June, 1970 , prohibiting the opera- tion of licensed and unlicensed motor driven cycles on unimproved private property, parkways , sidewalks , park lands and beaches ; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange adopted similar legislation in July of 1970; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach is negotiating for property to create an interim mini-bike park for the younger local residents and is also encouraging private enterprise in meeting all of the recreational aspects of this new pastime; and WHEREAS, our governments are mutually concerned with the biologically and geologically fragile land resources left to us for recreation and environmental enjoyment ; and WHEREAS, it appears that the public desires to increase the safety aspects of this recreation and diminish the undesirable ecological effects; and WHEREAS, the major recreational interests for this sport are regional in nature, particularly the larger trail cycles ; • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this city does hereby request the Orange County Board of Supervisors to expedite the develop- ment of regional motor parks at Los Coyotes ,Santa Ana River, Ortega, or other suitable park areas , on an emergency basis if need be . -1- PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of September 1970 .
