HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3265 RESOLUTION NO. 3265 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF GARFIELD AVENUE FROM GOLDENWEST STREET TO BEACH BOULEVARD. WHEREAS, the city of Huntington Beach desires to improve Garfield Avenue from Goldenwest Street to Beach Boulevard, and WHEREAS, Garfield Avenue is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general County interest, and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds appor- tioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in theimprovement, construction or repair of a street within a City, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1971-72 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the city of Huntington Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allo- cate to said City from County Funds the amount of $260,000.00, said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improve- of Garfield Avenue from Goldenwest Street to Beach Boulevard and for the acquisition of necessary rights of way; said improvements and acquisition of rights of way to be in accordance with the attached project statement; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of rights of way on Garfield Avenue, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the city of Huntington Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of way will be available for the fiscal year 1971-72.
