HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3267 RESOLUTION NO. 3 267 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF MAGNOLIA STREET. WHEREAS, the city of Huntington Beach desires to improve Magnolia Street from Hamilton Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway, and WHEREAS, Magnolia Street is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general County interest, and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement, construction or repair of a street within a City, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1971-72 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County Funds the amount of $248,000.00, said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of Magnolia Street from Hamilton to Pacific Coast Highway, and for the acquisition of necessary rights of way; said improvements and acquisi- tion of rights of way to be in accordance with the attached project statement; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of rights of way on Magnolia Street, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Huntington Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rightsof way will be available for the fiscal year 1971-72.
