HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3286 RESOLUTION NO. 3286 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH HONORING BOYS AND GIRLS SUCCESSFULLY COMPETING IN AND WINNING THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MUNICIPAL ATHLETIC FED- ERATION CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS WHEREAS , the city Recreation and Parks Department has es- tablished a cross-country program for boys and girls , nine through fifteen years of age, and these athletes qualified in the first eight places of the Huntington Beach Championships Meet; and These same boys and girls entered the Orange County Mu- nicipal Athletic Association Cross-country Championships Meet, qualifying in the first eight places; and The same young people participated in the Southern Cali- fornia Municipal Athletic Federation Cross-country Champion- ships Meet , held January 23, 1971 at Bloomfield Park in Lake- wood, California and placed in the first five places ; and This fine effort was a principal contribution to capturing for Orange County the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation Cross-country Championship; and In so doing, each demonstrated high standards of sports- manship and fair play, and brought honor on the City of Huntington Beach and the County of Orange , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it congratulates the boys and girls who, under the leadership of the Huntington Beach Rec- reation and Parks Department, placed first through fifth in the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation Cross-country Championships . PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of 1 . Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 16th day of February, 1971 .
