A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE STATE DI-
VISION OF HIGHWAYS TO ESTABLISH A SCENIC HIGH-
WAY CORRIDOR, AND TO INITIATE A SCENIC HIGHWAY
CORRIDOR SURVEY AND HIGHWAY FACILITY STUDY
ALONG THAT PORTION OF THE PACIFIC COAST FREE-
WAY, ROUTE 1, LYING BETWEEN ANAHEIM BAY AND
THE SANTA ANA RIVER
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach understands the importance of Pacific Coast Freeway to
the process of orderly growth and development ; and
The Council recognizes that beauty should be incor-
porated into freeway design; that freeways have an impact
on the environment and appearance of a community; and
Cooperation is necessary between the State Division of
Highways and local jurisdictions to achieve a well-planned
relationship between the motorist , freeway and scenic cor-
ridor; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach as follows :
1. That it does support the initiation of a Scenic High-
way Corridor Survey and a Highway Facility Study by the State
Division of Highways along Pacific Coast Freeway , covering
that portion of such freeway lying between Anaheim Bay and
the Santa Ana River .
2 . That the City of Huntington Beach will cooperate
with the State Division of Highways and the County of Orange
to implement the above-named studies in order to achieve a
well-planned relationship between the motorist , freeway and
scenic corridor.
3 . That the City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy

of this resolution to the State Division of Highways , the
Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Orange County
Planning Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd
day of May , 1971 .

resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of
more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd
