HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3469 1 RESOLUTION NO . 3469 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO MODIFICATION OF THE SYSTEM OF ALLOCATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE UNIFORM SALES AND USE TAX WHEREAS , the City, of_ Huntington Beach , by Ordinance No . 643, adopted March 1, 1956 , established a city sales and use tax, administered by the state Board of Equalization; and Since 1956 the City of Huntington Beach has formulated its fiscal policy on the revenue realized from such sales and use tax; and The degree and number of services furnished by city to the local taxpayer have been based upon the system presently in effect , and such system has functioned to provide the greatest benefit to the taxpayer, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it does strongly oppose any change in the present administration and operation of the Uniform Sales and Use Tax; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that legislators from this district and the League of California Cities are urged to take whatever action necessary to defeat and oppose any legislation which may be introduced to modify the allocation and distribution of the Uniform Sales and Use Tax; and FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to trans- mit copies of this resolution to appropriate members of the state legislature , and the League of California Cities .
