A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA TO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PREVENT THE
INCREASING COST OF WATER
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach and its citizens
are large consumers of water and the City of Huntington Beach
purchases large amounts of water from the Municipal Water
District of Orange County; and
The City of Huntington Beach and its citizens used
21,567 .7 acre feet of water during the calendar year of 1971,
thirty percent (30%) of which was purchased from the Municipal
Water District of Orange County at the rates set by the
Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; and
The cost per acre foot of water purchased from the
Metropolitan Water District of Orange County was $25 in 1958
and the current cost is $57 per acre foot ; and
The cost of water purchased by the City of Huntington. Beach
from the Municipal Water District of Orange County in 1971 was
$334 ,527 .70 ; and
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach on behalf
of its citizens desires to prevent an increase in the cost of
water,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach that it does urge the Board of Direc-
tors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California
to take every available course of action and to make every
effort to prevent the continuing rise in the cost of water to
its member agencies and to the City of Huntington Beach and
its citizens .

Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 17th day of July, 1972.

more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
