A JOINT RESOLUTION OF INTENT OF THE CITY COUNCILS
OF THE CITIES OF FOUNTAIN VALLEY AND HUNTINGTON
BEACH TO PURSUE THE CONCEPT OF ESTABLISHING
NEWLAND-ELLIS PARK COMPLEX
WHEREAS, the City Councils of Huntington Beach and
Fountain Valley met in joint study session, and
WHEREAS, they have expressed a mutual interest in pre-
serving the environment, open space amenities and recreational
opportunities in the area north of Ellis Avenue and east and
west of Newland Street where the cities are coterminus ; and
WHEREAS, Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach support
the position that open space should be acquired for park and
recreational purposes in both cities to preserve portions
of the bluff and tree line within the Newland-Ellis park
complex;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach that it is the intent of the
Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach City Councils to pro-
ceed in an orderly manner to perpetuate mutual and compli-
mentary environmental open space programs within the Newland-
Ellis park complex to the benefit of the citizens of both
cities .
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the
21st day of August, 1972 .

I , PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and
acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing
resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of
more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st
day of August 19 72 , by the following vote:
