HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3590 RESOLUTION NO. 3590 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH COMMENDING JUDGE CELIA BAKER FOR HER 25 YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF HUNTINGTON BEACH WHEREAS , Celia Baker has for 25 years faithfully served West Orange County and the City of Huntington Beach as city judge , justice court judge and a municipal court judge; and During these years she has contributed to the community welfare by her staunch upholding of justice , activities in business and professional groups , and as a wife and mother; and She served her country as an ensign in the United States Navy Waves in 1943-44, and a recounting of her activities show that she was appointed to the Municipal Court Bench in the Huntington Beach - Seal Beach Judicial District on September 18, 1959 , and was judge, city court , Huntington Beach 1948-53 , ap- pointed by City Council and was elected judge , Justice Court , 1953 to 1959 • She was in private law practice , Huntington Beach, during 1948-58 . Admitted to California Bar January 7 , 1948 . Education : University of Buffalo , New York; George Washington University , Washington, D. C . , and Los Angeles Col- lege of Applied Education. Married Colonel George V. Baker in Huntington Beach in 1957 . Two children: Carol, born January 1, 1945 ; and Linda, born November 29 , 1945 . Member : Soroptimist Club ; Business and Professional Women' s Club ; and Iota Tau Tau, Legal Sorority . NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, hereby commends Judge Celia Baker for long service to the City and West Orange County . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that a copy of this resolution be 1 . presented to Judge Celia Baker at her retirement ceremonies November 5 , 1972 .
