A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING THE SCHOOL BOND
ISSUE
WHEREAS , every high school within the Huntington Beach
Union High School District is facing a severe shortage of
classroom space at the present time ; and
The district enrollment is expected to continue its
upward growth pattern, reaching a projected enrollment of
over 205000 by 1975; and
The district has exhausted its bond funds , and trustees
have called a bond election for February 27 , 1973 to bring
to the voters a twenty-seven-million-dollar bond issue , and
Passage of that issue at the polls will allow the district
to construct two critically needed high schools in the district ,
alleviating crowding at all district high schools , and
The City Council of .the City of Huntington Beach recognizes
that even the finest educational program suffers when presented
under over-crowded conditions , and
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach realizes
that the passage of this bond issue is crucial to the continua-
tion of the district ' s successful educational program for today ' s
high school students and, further, that passage of this bond
issue will assure adequate secondary school facilities for
the children presently enrolled as pupils in the school dis-
trict .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach does support such bond issue .
