A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING THE UNITED STATES
CONGRESS TO ADOPT YEAR-ROUND DAYLIGHT SAVINGS
TIME
WHEREAS, a high percentage of auto accidents are attrib-
utable to fatigue and semi-darkness , and the addition of one
hour of daylight in the evening would increase the safe-
driving period for employees returning home from work; and
The crime rate would be reduced by an extra hour of day-
light which would enable more workers to reach home before
dark; and
An extra hour of daylight would result in reductions in
electrical and fuel consumption, which would improve both
economy and environment,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach does hereby commend Congressman
Craig Hosmer for his efforts to secure passage of bills H.R.
2337 and H.R. 2338 supporting year-round daylight savings time.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that , for the reasons above stated,
the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does urge and
request the Congress of the United States to adopt year-round
