A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE STATE DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC WORKS, THE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS, THE
COUNTY OF ORANGE AND AFFECTED LOCAL AGENCIES TO
PARTICIPATE IN A ROUTE 1 CORRIDOR TRANSPORTATION
STUDY AND DECLARING THE INTENT OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH TO PARTICIPATE IN SUCH A STUDY
WHEREAS , the State Legislature has deleted from the
California Freeway and Expressway System Route 1 between Route
605 near Seal Beach and Route 5 near San Clemente ; and
The existing facilities in Orange County through the
Route 1 corridor between Seal Beach and San Clemente are
severely congested and insufficient to meet present and
future transportation demands ; and
It is in the best interest of all local agencies , the
County and the State to have a cooperative transportation
corridor study to formulate solutions to corridor transporta-
tion demands ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach requests :
1. That the State Department of Public Works , the
Division of Highways , the County of Orange and affected local
agencies participate in a Route 1 corridor transportation
study .
2 . That such studies examine alternative solutions
to the area' s transportation needs through the concept of
the Governor' s Transportation Corridor Policy .
3 . That such study be commenced as soon as possible
and conducted as expeditiously as possible .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed
to furnish copies of this resolution to the appropriate state
agencies .
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of

Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the
2nd day of April , 1973 .

that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day
of April 19 73 , by the following vote: -
