HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3696 RESOLUTION NO. 3696 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING AB 1056 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR LOCAL ANIMAL CONTROL PROGRAMS WHEREAS over one million dogs and cats are killed in California animal shelters at a cost of over $50,000,000 annually; and There is a great need for public clinics to provide spaying and neutering services at reasonable fees; and Assemblyman Dixon Arnett has introduced AB 1056 which will appropriate, from the General Fund in the State Treasury, the sum of $3,000,000 to the Department of Food and Agri- culture for allocation to cities and counties for low-cost, public spaying and neutering clinics , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does support AB 1056 which would appropriate funds for local animal control programs. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to transmit copies of this resolution to Assemblyman Dixon Arnett and other appropriate state legislators .
