A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH ENDORSING RESOLUTION OF THE
SANTA ANA RIVER/SANTIAGO CREEK GREENBELT COM-
MISSION URGING PUBLIC AGENCIES TO HOLD LAND ON
ORANGE COUNTY COASTLINE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN
WHEREAS, certain parcels of land owned by the State of California
on the coastline in Orange County intended for use in the construction of
Pacific Coast Freeway are in danger of being sold to private interests;
and
The Santa Ana River/Santiago Creek Greenbelt Commission has recog-
nized the possibility of such parcels of land being lost to public use through
sale to private interests, and has adopted resolution urging public agencies
to exert every effort to hold such parcels of land in the public domain for
use by the public; and
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is aware that such land
has a high potential as open space, possible transportation corridors and
other uses,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach
does endorse and strongly support the stand taken by the Santa Ana River/
Santiago Creek Greenbelt Commission to preserve parcels of land on the
coastline in Orange County, presently owned by the State of California, for
future open space and other uses.
