HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3728 RESOLUTION NO 3728 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ENDORSING RESOLUTION OF THE SANTA ANA RIVER/SANTIAGO CREEK GREENBELT COM- MISSION URGING PUBLIC AGENCIES TO HOLD LAND ON ORANGE COUNTY COASTLINE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN WHEREAS, certain parcels of land owned by the State of California on the coastline in Orange County intended for use in the construction of Pacific Coast Freeway are in danger of being sold to private interests; and The Santa Ana River/Santiago Creek Greenbelt Commission has recog- nized the possibility of such parcels of land being lost to public use through sale to private interests, and has adopted resolution urging public agencies to exert every effort to hold such parcels of land in the public domain for use by the public; and The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is aware that such land has a high potential as open space, possible transportation corridors and other uses, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does endorse and strongly support the stand taken by the Santa Ana River/ Santiago Creek Greenbelt Commission to preserve parcels of land on the coastline in Orange County, presently owned by the State of California, for future open space and other uses. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the Santa Ana River/Santiago Creek Greenbelt 1. /ahb Commission and appropriate state and county agencies.
