HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3794 RESOLUTION NO. 3794 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO MAINTAIN A COMPREHENSIVE, CO- ORDINATED AND EFFECTIVE CENTRALIZED COUNTY PLAN- NING DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, it is reported that a reorganization of the County Planning Department and staff is being considered by the Orange County Board of Supervisors ; and Orange County is undergoing the most rapid period of growth and development in its history and judicious planning with vision and imagination is important during this period of growth to achieve results which will be responsive to the needs of the county; and There is widespread awareness of a need for conserving our natural environment by monitoring the impact of urbani- zation and other land use upon such environment; and It is necessary to maintain one strong effective central- ized planning agency to coordinate all county activities with long range and comprehensive planning and in order to eliminate uncoordinated efforts by various fragmentary and decentralized agencies throughout the county, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach urges the Orange County Board of Supervisors to consider the establishment and maintenance of such a centralized planning agency in the County of Orange so that effective implementation of land use goals and controls may be achieved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Huntington Beach also urges the Board of Supervisors to reject any proposal to decentralize functions of the County Planning Department . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Huntington Beach recommends the establishment of an advisory committee consisting 1. er of representatives from cities and county communities in Orange County to assist the Board of Supervisors in their deliberations . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby requested to send a copy of this resolution to the Board of Supervisors and all cities and county communities in Orange County. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at an adjourned regular meeting held on the 10th day of December, 1973 .
