A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
SUPPORTING A RECOMMENDATION TO ADOPT TRANSIT
CORRIDOR PLAN T2E MODIFIED
WHEREAS, the staff of the Orange County Transit District
has made recommendation to adopt Transit Corridor Plan T2E
Modified; and
The City Council concurs in such recommendation for the
following reasons :
1 . The extension of the corridor into Huntington Beach
will serve the heavily populated coastal area of Orange County;
2 . Future residential, industrial and commercial develop-
ment within this area dictates the need to be served by mass
transit;
3 . The existing railroad right of way which the City will
endeavor to help preserve;
4 . The proposed Huntington Beach line is centrally lo-
cated between the western edge of the county and the proposed
line terminating in Corona del Mar;
5. Plans are being processed to develop a more intensive
land use of the city's old downtown area; and
6. The extension of this line will facilitate development
of a more highly sophisticated transit line along the coast.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach does hereby support the recommen-
dation of the staff of the Orange County Transit District to
adopt Transit Corridor Plan T2E Modified.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to
