HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3854 RESOLUTION NO. 3854 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO CANVASS BALLOTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL WHEREAS Section 1302 of the city Charter provides in applicable part, that all elections shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California as the same now exists or hereafter may be amended for the holding of municipal elections; and Section 22932.5 of the Elections Code provides, in appli- cable part, that the governing body may, by resolution duly adopted prior to the date of an election, order a canvass to be made by the City Clerk prior to the first Monday after an election, and that upon completion of the canvass, the City Clerk shall certify the results to the governing body, which shall, on the first Monday after an election, comply with other provisions of Section 22932 of the Elections Code, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby authorizes and directs the City Clerk to canvass the votes on its behalf of all general or special elections, and submit the results to the City Council for certification. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall be in effect for all future general or special municipal elections unless changed by resolution, ordinance or charter amendment . PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 4th day of March, 1974.
