HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3883 RESOLUTION NO. 3883 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH EXPRESSING ITS INTENTION TO DEVELOP A GEO-CODED DATA BASE IN COOPERA- TION WITH CERTAIN CITIES AND TO ACQUIRE CER- TAIN FEDERAL FUNDS THEREFOR WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach is interested in developing a Geo-coded Data Base; and The Cities of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Anaheim have tentatively indicated a desire to participate in the develop- ment of such a system; and The cooperative development of such a system will pro- mote efficiency by eliminating duplication of effort ; and The Department of Housing and Urban Development of the United States Government has, under the Comprehensive Planning Assistance Program, earmarked a $75,000 grant for the pur- pose of developing such a system; and The Department of Housing and Urban Development will make the $75,000 total grant available to the Cities ;of Anaheim, Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Huntington Beach on a two-thirds/one-third basis; and The Cities may make in-kind contributions of staff and other city resources as their one-third contribution; and The City of Huntington Beach is authorized to contract with other agencies by Section 400 of the Huntington Beach City Charter and to enter joint power agreements with other public agencies pursuant to Sections 6500 et seq. of the Government Code of the State of California; and The Department of Housing and Urban Development desires one of th4 four cities above-mentioned to act as the "lead" agency in the implementation of this program and submit the 1. WM:ahb formal application for the grant hereinabove described; and The cooperative development of Management Information System, known as a Geo-coded Data Base is mutually beneficial to the Cities of Anaheim, Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Huntington Beach, and in the best interest of the City of Huntington Beach, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby express its intention and willingness to participate in the development of the Geo- coded Data Base with the Cities of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Anaheim. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Huntington Beach does hereby tentatively agree to participate in the development of the Geo-coded Data Base. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby indicate its desire to procure the $75,000 grant for the development of the Geo-coded Data Base and its willingness to contribute its portion of the Cities ' one-third share in in-kind services . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby tentatively indicate its inten- tion to enter into a joint powers agreement with the Cities of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Anaheim in order to develop the Geo-coded Data Base and to apply for the $75,000 grant for that purpose from the Department of Housing and Urban Development .
