HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3908 RESOLUTION NO. 3908 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING THE STATE BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION TO DEVELOP THE HUNTING— TON BEACH PARADE AS THE OFFICIAL STATE PARADE FOR JULY4, 1976. WHEREAS: The Huntington Beach Fourth of July Parade is the largest, oldest and most important patriotic parade in the State of California,and perhaps the entire nation; and WHEREAS: The Parade has been declared the official Orange County Fourth of July Parade for 1974;and WHEREAS: The State of California American Revolution Bicentennial Com- mission is promoting statewide celebration of the nation's 200th birthday; and WHEREAS: The City of Huntington Beach will hold the 72nd consecutive running of this patriotic parade on July 4, 1976 and the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach believe the people of the entire state of California would benefit by viewing the planned 72nd Annual Huntington Beach Fourth of July Parade. Now Therefore Be It Resolved,that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach urge the State American Revolution Bicentennial Commission to recognize the 72nd Annual Huntington Beach Fourth of July Parade at the State's official Bicentennial Parade and call on the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to support the city in this matter. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 24th day of June, 1974.
