HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3918 RESOLUTION NO. 3918 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH EXPRESSING ITS INTENTION AND WILLINGNESS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DEVELOP- MENT OF NEIGHBORHOOD PRESERVATION PROGRAM PILOT PROJECTS IN COOPERATION WITH CERTAIN INTERESTED CITIES AND TO SUBMIT A JOINT LETTER OF INTENT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOP- MENT AND TO THE FEDERAL HOME LOAN BANK BOARD FOR FEDERAL FUNDS AND ASSISTANCE THEREFOR WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Home Loan Bank Board have recently announced the creation of a neighborhood preservation program for the purpose of retarding housing deterioration; and An existing program of the Board which successfully insti- tuted neighborhood preservation services and stimulated the formation of such institutions in several cities will be ex- panded by this joint federal effort; and Such joint federal effort will assist in the development of pilot neighborhood preservation projects by a partnership of local governments, lending institutions and neighborhood residents ; and James T. Lynn, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Thomas R. Bomar, Chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, will be co-directors of an "Urban Reinvestment Task Force," to select pilot neighborhood preservation program projects based, in large part, on the intergovernmental commitment and arrangement of the neighborhood preservation partnership, which will serve as a model for broader application, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows : 1 . The City of Huntington Beach does hereby express its intention and willingness to participate in the development of neighborhood preservation program pilot projects with certain interested cities. er 1, 2 . The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby indicate its desire to submit a letter of intent, in conjunction with other interested cities , to James T. Lynn, Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Thomas R. Bomar, Chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, co-members of the "Urban Reinvestment Task Force" . PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of July, 1974 .
