HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3942 RESOLUTION N0. 3942 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CON- SOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5 , 1974, WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5 , 1974 , PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach has called a special municipal election in the City of Huntington Beach to be held on November 5, 1974, for the purpose of submit- ting to the qualified voters of the City of Huntington Beach a proposition concerning the possible repeal of the real property transfer tax as hereinafter set forth; and It is desirable that said special municipal election be consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on the same date and that within the City of Huntington Beach the precincts , polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange canvass the returns of the special municipal election and that said statewide general election and special municipal election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby resolve, determine, and request as follows : SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange be and it hereby is requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a special municipal election with the statewide general election on Tuesday, the 5th day of Novem- ber, 1974, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Huntington Beach a proposition to appear on the ballot as follows : DPB: cs 1. 'Shall the City Council repeal the ' real property transfer tax, adopt-' YES r r ' ed July 1, 1974, and substitute ' for it a monthly trash collection ' charge on residential homeowners ' plus an increase in the utilities ' NO ' tax? ' ' ' • t r r SECTION 2 . Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said special municipal election which it is hereby requested to consolidate with said statewide general election and said election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. SECTION 3 . Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election SECTION 4 . The City of Huntington Beach recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs . SECTION 5 . That the City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolu- tion with the County Clerk, the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and the Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange .
