A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING LEAGUE OF
CALIFORNIA CITIES' SPONSORSHIP OF REGIONAL
SEMINARS WITH CALIVORNIA CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATES
ON LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL ISSUES
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has increasingly preempted
local government in its abilities to make decisions ; and
The problem of preemption has recently become more acute,
as demonstrated by the parking management regulations promulgated
by the Environmental Protection Agency; the aggressiveness of
the Bureau of Land Management of the Department of Interior in
pursuing off-shore drilling on our Southern California coast;
interference in matters of local and regional concern, such as
flood plain hazards and establishment of local government revenue
sharing priorities , and
It is becoming more and more important to stay in closer
contact with our congressional leaders .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach that it requests that the California
League of Cities exercise their influence and needed leadership
by sponsoring regional seminars on such issues with our California
congressional delegates .
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 16th
day of September, 1974.
