HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3969 RESOLUTION NO. 3969 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE WEST ORANGE COUNTY WATER BOARD IN ITS REQUEST TO THE ORANGE COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT TO COORDINATE THE SCHEDULING AND FINANC- ING OF THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE WATER TRANS- MISSION MAIN IN EDWARDS STREET AT THE CROSSING OF THE ANAHEIM-BARBER CITY CHANNEL WHEREAS, in 1963, under provisions of a permit from the Orange County Flood Control District, the West Orange County Water Board was required to and did, at its expense, provide for the future widening of the water transmission main in Edwards Street at the crossing of the Anaheim-Barber City Channel; and The Orange County Flood Control District is contemplating a further widening of the transmission main at this location in 1975, at an estimated cost of over $50 ,000, which construction could have been accomplished in 1963 at the time of the previous widening of the said transmission main; and Said construction will involve the removal and reconstruc- tion of the transmission main at this location and interruption of service at this transmission main during the months of high water demands would create a critical water supply problem in the cities of Huntington Beach, Westminster and Seal Beach; and The Board of Director of the West Orange County Water Board has requested the Orange County Flood Control District to schedule their construction so that said transmission main reconstruction could be accomplished during the periods of low water demand, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby resolves to support the Board of Directors of the West Orange County Water Board in its request to the Orange County Flood Control District to schedule its reconstruction during periods of low water demand and to pay all of the costs of relo- cation because of the provisions already made in the transmission er 1. main at the request of the Orange County Flood Control District , to provide for future reconstruction of the channel. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of October, 1974 .
