HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3973 RESOLUTION NO. 3973 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ESTABLISHING THE HUNTINGTON BEACH EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach recognizes the importance of equal employment opportunity with regard to the proper functioning of city government and the well-being of the citizens of Huntington Beach; and The City desires to establish an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to assist the City in the promotion of equal employment opportunity within Huntington Beach, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach as follows : SECTION 1. EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION. There is hereby created for the City of Huntington Beach the Huntington Beach Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, hereinafter referred to as the "Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. " SECTION 2 . COMPOSITION AND APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS . The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission shall consist of five (5) members who must be residents of the City of Huntington Beach and must continue to reside in the City in order to continue such membership. ;The City Council has the option to change members at any time or to renew their appointments by motion of the City Council, adopted by the affirmative votes of the total membership thereof. The members of the Commission shall serve for terms of four years , except that the initial terms shall include two members with two-year terms for the first term only so that the terms shall be staggered thereafter. The initial two-year terms shall expire November 1, 1976; the four-year terms , November 1, 1978 . All members shall serve without compensation and none shall hold any office or employment in the City government . SECTION 3. .REMOVAL OF MEMBERS . Any member of the Equal /k 1. Res. WENTWORTH, the duly elected, qualified City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of theCity Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven; that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day x of October , 19 74 , by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen: Bartlett, Gibbs, Matney, Duke NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Shipley,, Wieder, Coen ALICIA M.
