HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 3974 RESOLUTION NO. 3974 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ASKING ASSISTANCE FOR REDUCTION OF EXPENSES RESULTING FROM BEACH OPERATION WHEREAS, AB 3611 lost by Governor Reagan's veto, and The beach operation is costing the City of Huntington Beach approximately One Million Two Hundred Thousand ($1,200 ,000 ) Dollars out-of-pocket and 85 percent of the beach users come from out of the city, and This legislation was authored by Assemblyman Robert Burke and would have provided over Four Hundred Thousand ($400 ,000 ) Dollars of tidelands money, and This bill would have compensated the City of Huntington Beach for the encumbered expenses necessitated by the policing and maintaining of State beaches , and In order to pursue the only alternatives we have to reduce the unwarranted costs . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Huntington Beach form a coalition with representatives of the city's depart- ments of Harbors and Beaches , Recreation and Parks , and Planning as well as Assemblyman Burke 's office, Senator Carpenter' s office and the State Departments of Transportation, Parks and Recreation and Fish and Game in order to reduce our financial responsibility.
