HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4017 RESOLUTION NO . 4017 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RECOMMENDING THAT THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSIT DISTRICT DIRECTORS BE ELECTED BY VOTE OF THE PEOPLE WHEREAS, the growth in population of Orange County has necessitated many important decisions regarding transportation within Orange County which greatly affect the citizens of Orange County; and WHEREAS, the Directors of the Orange County Transit District make such decisions which have long-range implica- tions for the residents of Orange County; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transit District collects taxes and controls the expenditure of such funds in the overall transportation program; and WHEREAS, the Directors of Orange County Transit District have not heretofore been elected by the people but are in- directly appointed to such positions ; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach feels that there should be representation where there is taxation, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby recommend that the California Legislature act to permit Orange County voters to elect persons directly to represent their interests on the Orange County Transit District Board of Directors and the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy of this resolution to appropriate repre- sentatives in the State Legislature .
