HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4235 a\ U RESOLUTION NO. 4235 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING ASSISTANCE FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AGENCY OF ORANGE COUNTY IN THE COST OF DREDGING IN HUNTINGTON HARBOUR WHEREAS, the main channel at Huntington Harbour overlies the tidelands of the State of California and is a navigable channel under the protection of the Orange -County Harbor Patrol; and There is a need to keep this navigable channel safe for the pleasure of the boating public of Orange County and for rapid travel of fire fighting boats of the harbor; and The Wintersburg-Garden Grove Storm Water Channel CO-5 drains its storm waters through this navigable channel; and There is presently a need for maintenance dredging of this channel from the Warner Avenue Bridge to a point one-quarter mile northerly involving some twenty to thirty thousand cubic yards of material; and The County of Orange has in the past performed such main- tenance dredging at the discharge of the Bolsa Chica Storm Drain Channel CO-2 at its confluence with this navigable channel, NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Huntington Beach requests the Orange County Board of Supervisors to authorize an appropriate expenditure through the Environmental Management Agency from the Orange County Harbor District Funds for the maintenance dredging of the main channel of Huntington Harbour from Warner Street to a point one-quarter mile northerly thereof.
