HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4273 RESOLUTION NO. 4273 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING TELEVISION COVER- AGE OF ORANGE COUNTY NEWS WHEREAS, the County of Orange has developed during recent years into the second most populous county in the State of California, with a population of nearly two million residents ; and The residents of Orange County are primarily interested in all aspects of news which affects their daily lives , including but not limited to elections , sports, special events , and other items of local interest which commonly appear in the Orange County newspapers ; and The lack of a commercial television facility within Orange County makes it dependent upon the Los Angeles television sta- tions for news coverage; and Orange County deserves the broadest possible television coverage of all kinds of county-wide and local occurrences , and the television coverage presently provided is totally inadequate, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it urges coverage of Orange County news , including reporting on elections, sports, special events , and other items of local interest, by television stations in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach is directed to transmit copies of this resolu- tion to all commercial television stations in the Los Angeles area as well as all member cities of the League of California Cities in Orange County , and the Bard of Supervisors of Orange County. 1.
