HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4274 F►'eso/�f•o,v F9v6eU RESOLUTION N0. 4274 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS TO BE LET WITHOUT ADVERTISING FOR BIDS DUE TO URGENT NECESSITY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF LIFE, HEALTH OR PROPERTY. (CIVIC CENTER CORROSION CONTROL) WHEREAS, the City Charter Section 1211 provides that public works contracts may be let and purchases made without advertising for bids if such work shall be deemed by the City Council to be of urgent necessity for the preservation of life , health or property, and shall be authorized by the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the total members of the City Council; and The Director of Public Works has declared that the corrosion control work to the utilities at the Civic Center is of urgent necessity for the preservation of city-occupied property in that unless the described work is immediately performed certain of the underground metal appurtenances of the City Hall Building will fail due to excessive corrosion, and that the work to be performed and the estimated cost thereof is more fully described on Exhibit A hereof. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it hereby approves the recommendation of the Director of Public Works, and authorizes said public works project and purchases to be made in the open market without advertising for bids , and the City Council deems such Droject to be an urgent necessity for the preservation of life , health, or property.
