HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4326 RESOLUTION NO. 4326 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE FEDERAL AID URBAN PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF WARNER AVENUE FROM THE SAN DIEGO FREEWAY TO PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach desires to improve Warner Avenue from the San Diego Freeway (Route 405) to Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) ; and Warner Avenue is important to transportation planning in the County of Orange and of general county interest; and The Federal Aid Highway Act of 1976 provides Federal funds for expenditure on the Federal Aid Urban (FAU) System of Highways and nonhighway public mass transit projects ; and The FAU system consists of certain eligible state high- ways , county roads and city streets located within urban and urbanized areas of the state; and The California Department of Transportation intends that funds be allocated to the urbanized and urban areas on the basis of proportional population in conformance with the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1976; and The California Department of Transportation has specified that each urban and urbanized area must^develop an acceptable process for reviewing projects and recommending priorities and that the appropriate regional planning agency (SLAG) must concur with the process ; and An FAU process has been approved for the County of Orange, in accordance with the above requirements , which will establish an FAU Funding Program, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby requests that the improvement of ahb 1. Warner Avenue from the San Diego Freeway (Route 405 ) to Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) be included in the Orange County FAU Pro- gram, said right-of-way and improvements to be in accordance with the attached preliminary project statement .. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that , by this resolution, the City of Huntington Beach will comply with the basic policies and pro- cedures of the Orange County FAU Program, and its share of the cost of improvements and/or rights-of-way, which are presently estimated to be $255,000, will be available for the fiscal year 1976-1977. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of September, 1976.
