A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH MAKING EXPRESS FINDINGS THAT
MODIFICATIONS OR CHANGES TO THE 1975 NATIONAL
ELECTRICAL CODE ARE NEEDED IN THIS CITY
WHEREAS, Section 17958 . 7 of the California Health and Safety
Code requires that the governing body of a city, before making any
modifications to the National Electrical Code adopted by the
State of California pursuant to Section 17922 of the California
Health and Safety Code, shall make an express finding that such
modifications are needed; and
The City of Huntington Beach finds it necessary to make modi-
fications to the 1975 Edition, National Electrical Code, based
upon local conditions per Section 17958 . 5,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach that , because of the corrosive nature of
the soils within the city of Huntington Beach and because of the
corrosive action of spindrift on materials normally used in elec-
trical installations and because of the increasing use of non-
metallic materials in water piping systems due to the above local
conditions , the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach finds
it necessary in order to assure a safe and durable electrical in-
stallation to make the following changes :
1 . In addition to the water pipe electrode required by
Section 250-81 of said National Electrical Code, concrete encased
electrodes shall be provided as required in Section 250-83 (a)
thereof.
2 . The use of electrical metallic tubing shall be pro-
hibited where exposed to the weather or in the ground.
This resolution will become effective on the date Ordinance
No . 2173 becomes effective .
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th

that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day
