A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING MARCH AS BURGLARY
PREVENTION MONTH
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach numbers itself
among the cities in Orange County involved in a concerted
anti-burglary effort being sponsored and supervised by the
Orange County Criminal Justice Council; and
The crime of burglary in Orange County rose 11 percent
in 1975 over 1974 to a staggering 37,885 separate crimes,
costing the Orange County citizens over $16 million in 1975 ; and
Felony arrests made by police agencies in Orange County
numbered 2,394 in 1975 for the crime of burglary, with only
1 . 6% ultimately going to prison; and
The City of Huntington Beach is firmly committed to the
protection of the law abiding citizen,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach does hereby declare the month of
March to be burglary prevention month, and urge all governmental
entities in Orange County to present a united front against
the staggering and continually increasing problem of burglary

and to motivate all citizens to participate actively in its
solution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 22nd
day of February, 1977.

Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of the
City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole number of
members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven;
that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 22nd day
of February 19 77 by the following vote:
