A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT
FROM THE STATE FOR LOST REVENUES IN SITUATIONS
WHERE CAL-TRANS PROFITS FROM PROPERTY RESALES
WHEREAS, Cal-Trans has acquired numerous parcels of
property in the city of Huntington Beach for proposed highway
construction and expansion; and
In many instances these properties are retained by the
State for a lengthy period of time and then not utilized for
the purposes for which acquired; and
These properties are then sold by the State at a sub-
stantial profit and all the profits derived accrue to the
State; and
Such properties remain off the tax roles of the City and
the City is deprived of taxation revenues thereon; and
A similar situation exists in other cities where property
is acquired by the State for highway purposes and not utilized
for such purposes ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach urges State legislation be enacted
which would allow the cities to share and participate in the
large profits generated by the resale of such properties ; or
at least cities be reimbursed for the taxes and lost revenue
occurring to the cities while such properties are held by the
State .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City
of Huntington Beach send copies of this resolution to the
following individuals : Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. , Senator
Dennis E. Carpenter, Assemblyman Dennis Mangers , and Assemblyman
Chet Wray.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of

City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole number of
members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven;
that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular __ adjourned meeting thereof held on the 14th day
of March , 19 77 by the following vote
