HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4470 RESOLUTION NO. 4470 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS TO BE LET WITHOUT ADVERTISING FOR BIDS DUE TO URGENT NECESSITY FOR THE PRE- SERVATION OF LIFE, HEALTH OR PROPERTY (WATER WELL N0. 6) WHEREAS, the City Charter, Section 1211 provides that public works contracts may be let and purchases made without advertising for bids if such work shall be deemed by the City Council to be of urgent necessity for preservation of life, health or property, and shall be authorized by the affirmative voted of at least two-thirds of the total members of the City Council; and The Director of Public Works has declared that there is an urgent necessity to perform certain repair work to be done on Water Well No. 6 . The building for Water Well No. 6 has incurred differential settlement due to unstable soil condi- tions . It is necessary to immediately stabilize the soil in the vicinity of Water Well No. 6 by compaction grouting. Repair work will be required to assure the operation of this well during the forthcoming summer months, to ensure that adequate supplies of palatable water from local sources are available to the citizens of the community. The estimated cost of this work is Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that it hereby approves the recommenda- tions of the Public Works Director and authorizes said public works project and purchases to be made, and the City Council deems such project to be an urgent necessity for the preserva- tion of life, health and property.
