HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4491 r RESOLUTION NO. 4491 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 792 PROVIDING FOR A NEW PROGRAM OF GRANTS AND REIM— BURSEMENTS TO PUBLIC LIBRARIES WHEREAS, the State Senate has introduced Senate Bill 792 which provides a new program of grants and reimbursements to public libraries , to encourage and enable the sharing and coordination of library resources and services among and between library systems, state reference centers, and specified libraries , provides for upgrading services to under-served residents , and provides for the establishment and creation of state reference centers to provide backup reference service for systems and libraries participating in the programs authorized by this Bill, and create a computerized, bibliographic data base to facilitate the location of information and library materials; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach has determined that the provisions of Senate Bill 792 would be beneficial and in the best interests of the citizens of Huntington Beach, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby expresses its wholehearted support I, of Senate Bill 792 . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to send copies of this Resolution to the State Legislature, the League of California Cities, and all cities in Orange County.
