HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 4523 RESOLUTION NO. 4523 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH APPROVING SALARY AND BENEFITS FOR THE POSITION OF CITY ATTORNEY FOR FISCAL YEARS' 1976 - 1977 AND 1977 - 1978 WHEREAS, a dispute has arisen between the City Council and the City Attorney as to the appropriate level of salary and benefits for the position of City Attorney for fiscal years' 1976 - 1977 and 1977 - 1978; and The City Council desires to finally determine the matter; and The City Council has considered all relevant data presented by the City Administrator, the City Attorney and the Personnel Department with respect to the appropriate level of compensation and benefits for the position of City Attorney for fiscal years ' 1976 - 1977 and 1977 - 1978, including a salary survey conducted by the Personnel Department comparing the salary range for the position of City Attorney for the City of Huntington Beach with the salary ranges for the position of City Attorney in the Cities of Anaheim, Burbank, Garden Grove, Glendale, Inglewood, Pasadena, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Ana and Torrance for fiscal year 1976 - 1977; and Based upon the aforementioned salary survey, the City Council finds that the top step of the salary range for the position of City Attorney for the City of Huntington Beach, at which the City Attorney is presently paid, was 1. 6% below the average of the top steps of the salary ranges for the position of City Attorney for said cities for fiscal year 1976 - 1977; and Based upon salary data provided by the Personnel Department , the City Council finds that the salary ranges for the position /cs 1 . of City Attorney within, said cities will increase by less than 7 % for fiscal year 1977 - 1978, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach as follows : SECTION 1. Effective July 1, 1976, the salary range for the position of City Attorney shall be $2,652 to $3,295 per month. SECTION 2 . Effective June 25, 1977, the salary range for the position of City Attorney shall be that salary range within the City' s universal salary schedule which most nearly reflects a 7% salary increase, to wit , Range 405, $2,851 to $3,531 per month. SECTION 3. With respect to fringe benefits as distinguished from salary, those benefits established for department heads in Resolutions No. 4353 and 4510 shall be applicable to the City Attorney. SECTION 4 . The salary and benefits provided herein shall be effective as of the dates set forth above and shall continue in effect until changed by subsequent resolution of the City Council. SECTION 5. The provisions of this resolution shall super- sede the provisions of any prior resolutions of the City Council for the City of Huntington Beach dealing with the salary or bene- fits for the position of City Attorney, and the provisions of any such prior resolutions which are in conflict in any way with the provisions hereof are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
